Guangxi is China's landscape textbook: Guilin supplied the global type-section of karst — “Guilin's scenery beats all under heaven” has been carved on Duxiu Peak for eight centuries. But Guangxi exceeds Guilin: the Detian border falls, Weizhou's volcanics, the Chengyang wind-rain bridges of the Dong, and Bama's longevity valleys — ethnicity, border and sea in one deck.
The Zhuang are China's largest minority: the third-month-third song fair is the Valentine's of the hills, five-color glutinous rice and embroidered balls the props; Liu Sanjie's folk-song legend got amplified by Zhang Yimou's Impression Liu Sanjie on the Li itself.
